How to grow your PetomatoTM Habañero Plant

Growing your petomato in a recycled plastic bottle is easy! Use a bottle with a twist-off cap for best results and remember to always keep your water levels full.

  1. Use a plastic bottle with with a twist-offcap.
  2. Place 3 to 5 seeds on top of filter
    • Cover seeds with sand (provided)
    • Moisten the sand with 3 drops of water
  3. After germination, about 7-10 days, mix fertilizer with water as per enclosed instructions.

Seeds germinate in 7 to 10 days. If your PetomatoTM fails to germinate, you can try again. Be sure to keep extra seeds inside your refrigerator.

Culling your PetomatoTM plant is essential to ensure the strongest sprout thrives!

  • Keep your water bottle full at all times.
  • Replace all of your water once per week.
  • Mix fertilizer in the water after germination.
  • Use one level spoon (provided) of fertilizer per 4 ounces of water.
  • When replacing the water, remove the petomato growing tube.
  • Fertilizer should be completely dissolved in the water.
  • Cull your Petomato plant to help the strongest sprout/s thrive!
  • Be careful not to cut the roots!

Pollination, Fruit and Harvesting

You will need to pollinate your flowers to grow habañero peppers. When the habañero peppers are orange you can harvest them!

When the vegetables that you are growing become bigger they will require more water and fertilizer. For best results, you will need to take care of your plant from germination through harvest.


Habañero peppers are very hot and can burn your eyes. Please wash hands after handling habañero peppers and always supervise children while eating and harvesting habañeros.
